Tips on Living alcohol-free
Do you get home from work and go straight to the fridge and pour a wine? I did.
How I stopped this habit with a new behaviour. First the obvious “take the wine out of the house”
Sit with your ‘why’ do you want this first glass of wine? and stack a new habit with another.
Go into your “Level 1 toolbox” (visualise your pretend toolbox) and search for an alternative. In the early days, can this be a chocolate, a soft drink, a walk. Level 2 toolbox - Breathe work - The box method was my go-to. Someone to talk to and get through the next 20mins. Level 3 toolbox - meditate - exercise - podcast - book - a cup of herbal tea. What is in your tool box.
Before you have your first drink for day ask yourself this “Why do I want this drink” “Why do I need this drink”
Find a new behaviour to find a new routine! The urge to drink will pass if you let it. The mind loves routine and repetition.
Forward think - If you drink how will the rest of your day play out. How will your tomorrow look?
Raise your standards - Be the person who is in control who is present.
Believe in yourself - Love yourself - Love your body - Love you for you. Be kind to yourself.
